The From and Reply to address in Bulk Mail
There is always a bit of initial confusion when it comes to the From and Reply to addresses on the compose bulk mail screen. If you have access to the function - you are able to change the From address as well as the From name on the screen. If you do not have the access - then you can only change the reply to address.
The From address is the address that shows on the recipient's side as the address that the mail was sent from. This address is also the address and inbox that the Bounce Backs will be going to - so all the Out of office replies, Delivery failed messages and Invalid address mails. The space to the left of that is for the From Name, so the name that appears before the from address, for example: OpenNetworks Information <info@opennetworks.co.za>. So you can change that to say your company's name, with your mail address. NB - the bounce backs will ALWAYS come to the From address, so if you send a large amount of mail - and the number of bouncebacks are huge - then perhaps you should create a specific email address that the bouncebacks can go to, which can be used by the entire company. It is however important that the bouncebacks are worked through - so that the database is maintained and changes noted.
The Reply to address is the address that emails will come back to if the recipient clicks on Reply on their mail client. So if you are not going to be at your desk, and would still like to receive the replies - you can change that to be another mail address that can be accessed remotely.
We have created a system that forces you to make sure which email address you are sending the mail from - as it is left blank until you enter information. To add your own details and email address, click on the blue "From" link at the top of the compose mail page. Alternatively you can type in another address and From name, but either way you are aware that you put the address in to which the bounce backs will be going.
