SMS Unsubscribe

Automatic unsubscribe:

If a contact replies to an SMS sent from the CRM with the single word "Stop" in it, then the cellphone number that SMS was sent from will be automatically unsubscribed.

An email alert confirming that the number has been unsubscribed will be sent to the user who sent the initial SMS as well as to the contact - provided there is a valid email address for that contact in the CRM.

Manual unsubscribe:

There are 2 ways this can be done:

A. If you receive an SMS response from one of your contacts (the person who sent the original outgoing SMS will receive an email alert of the SMS response) requesting to be unsubscribed using alternative wording other than just a simple "Stop", then you will need to unsubscribe them manually. Just follow these four simple steps:

1. Log into your CRM.

2. Open the "SMS Received" logs.

3. On the list, find the SMS that you received.

4. Click the "Unsubscribe" button for that SMS.

B. If a contact requests their cellphone number to be unsubscribed in some way other than by reply SMS (e.g. telephonically or by email), then you will need to take the following steps to unsubscribe them:

1. Click on the "Settings" link top right of your screen.

4. Type in the cellphone number which needs to be unsubscribed. Then click on the "Restriction" dropdown to select which SMS communications they should be unsubscribed from. (To unsubscribe the cellphone number from ALL SMS's sent from your CRM select "All for business".)

5. If you have selected "Specific Group, Event, Organisation or Employee" then a new field called "Subset" will appear. To select the specific group etc, click on the blue "Change" link and a search dialogue box will appear. Type in the name of the group etc you are looking for and then click on the "Search" button. After the search results appear, click on the "Add" button next the appropriate group.

6. In the notes field, type in the reason why you have unsubcribed this person and then finally click on the "Save" button.

All done. They will now no longer recieve any SMS's sent via the your CRM.

PLEASE NOTE:

In all cases it is the cellphone number that is unsubscribed - not the contact name. This means if you add a new cellphone number for a contact who has said they wish to be unsubscribed, then you will be able to SMS them (provided the new cellphone number isn't also unsubscribed). It also means that even if you delete a contact with the unsubscribed cellphone number and then re-add them at a later stage with the same cellphone number, the unsubscribe restriction will remain.
